Crosshaven

We adore being located at the heart of Crosshaven village, a quaint little seaside town nestled into the western entrance of Cork harbour. With a population of almost 3,000 people it is a lively place, full of coastal activities from sailing to fishing, great walks, fabulous beaches and bathing spots. Whether you choose to travel by road or by sea, we are sure this little haven will leave lasting memories for you.

Travelling by road, the meandering Owenabue River estuary opens up to reveal a passage way of boats and a vista that is unrivalled. On entering Crosshaven, you are first greeted by the Royal Cork Yacht Club, the worlds oldest. The small fishing village was a holiday favourite for years with Corkonians, and there are lots of seaside activities such as beautiful walks, fishing trips by boat or along the rocks. Visitors can cycle along the Owenabue river on a fantastic dedicated walk and cycle way, converted from the old railway line that once travelled all the way to Cork city, or hire a kayak and paddle up the Fountainstown creek towards Minane Bridge. Summer visitors can also visit the historic Camden Fort Meagher dating back from 1550 and one of the few worldwide remaining examples of a WW1 artillery fort.

If you are travelling by sea, Crosshaven is situated at the western entrance to Cork harbour. You first pass Roches Point lighthouse at the eastern entrance of the harbour. Watch out for the pods of playful dolphins that are often seen at this point. Before you is Spike Island and beyond the historic town of Cobh, the last stop of the Titanic and berthing place of dozens of liners and cruise ships each year.
